From sticks to strings, Eric Forsyth was destined to leave the drum throne in the back of the band for the front stage lime light the moment he picked up the guitar at the age of 17.

Born of a jazzer father and very accomplished professional organist for a mother, "Er-Bear" Forsyth was homegrown in Northern California in the shadow of his late great grandmother's baby grand Steinway. A childhood filled with piano lessons, choir performances and exploring the wonders of the outdoors, Forsyth didn't unleash his inner rock star until he picked out his first real drum kit on his 12th birthday. Years of locally beloved jazz and alt rock bands ensued.

In his freshman year at college, a friend taught Forsyth the first four chords on an old guitar that launched him on a new road of expression. "I played those first few chords until my fingers bled." he said. And he hasn't stopped since. In the last several years, this self taught guitarist and songwriter has made a name for himself in several different locations across the country. From Philadelphia to Detroit, Idaho, Miami and now Boulder and Denver, Colorado, Forsyth has lived and performed in various impressive venues and locales, with many talented artists - broadening his musical taste and expression and sharing a folk-pop sound uniquely his own.

Amidst fast-paced changes that have been the only constant in his recent life, Eric's biggest influence is found in silence. "Life can get hectic and often there is very little silence. When I take time to create silence, I feel a need to fill it with something original. That seems to spawn and influence my writing."

The Thin of Thick Things:

Eric Forsyth's highly anticipated sophomore offering, The Thin of Thick Things features his most mature, honest and piercing songwriting yet. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, Forsyth wrote, engineered and produced this collection of deeply rooted pop-folk tunes in his new Boulder, CO studio, inviting the fantastic mandolin playing Dave Willis to offer his lead picking on three of the six carefully selected tracks.

Trees and Other Shady Things:

Written and recorded over the course of a year and a half, Forsyth's 2008 recording, Trees and Other Shady Things is a hand picked collection of quintessential Eric Forsyth tunes. As debut  solo releases go, this is a golden keeper. From the acoustic spiritual of "Easiness" to the creative song styling of hope-filled "Holding" and toe tapping reggae infused licks of "Bound to Be," Trees and Other Shady Things has Forsyth's heart and homemade love put into every note.
